Bonnie (full name Boniface, pronounced boh-nee-fahss) is one of the main characters of START AGAIN: a prologue and In Stars and Time.

Biography

Appearance

Bonnie is a kid, with dark skin and short wavy black hair: they wear a white shirt with two horizontal stripes and dots, black shorts, and black boots. They have a large round white hat with a single horizontal stripe, black circular earrings, and a black bracelet on their right hand.

They wield a frying pan when attacking.

Personality

Bonnie is described as "young and angry"[5]; as a kid, they have a rather childish personality. They love cooking, so they get easily excited when someone mentions food[6] or being hungry[7][8].

They feel upset whenever they feel as though they've disappointed someone, such as when Odile doesn't say anything about the snacks[9], or not noticing when Siffrin is upset[10].

In Stars and Time

Bonnie is originally from Bambouche, a coastal town in Vaugarde[11], where they lived with their older sister Nille. Some time ago, their village, family and sister were frozen in time[12][13], which lead them to join the party.

They were the last person to join[14].

Combat

In both START AGAIN: a prologue and In Stars and Time, unlike the rest of the party, Bonnie cannot be controlled in battle, and doesn't have any Craft type, attacks or skills. Instead, they sometimes dish out Neutral-type attacks to enemies, heal the party, or buff stats at random points during battle by using their pan.

Bonnie appears twice in combat in In Stars and Time, once in their Hangout, and once in Act 5. However, both of these sequences are entirely scripted, meaning that there is still no point at which Bonnie can be controlled in combat. Additionally, Bonnie deals neutral damage to enemies in the Hangout sequence, although they are stated to use Rock type Craft multiple times in the game.

  • Bonnie loves to cook[14], having been taught to do so by their sister[14]; their favorite season is summer[14], their favorite drink is pineapple juice[14], favorite color is black (but really, light blue)[14], they like dogs and cats equally[15], and they like comic books[15]. They like milk chocolate, and are likely to try weird chocolate flavors[16].
    • They can eat the spiciest peppers without flinching[17].
  • In their special attack sprite, they hold their pan with their right hand; suggesting they are right handed.
  • Bonnie has 51 portraits in In Stars and Time[18].
  • They are also in charge of bringing in Pocket items (such as Tonics) for use during battle, having been assigned the duty by Odile[19].
  • Being a kid, they are the shortest party member[14].
  • Bonnie's full name is Boniface. This was stated to have been a name Adrienne had not heard before, also saying that they imagine Bonnie not liking it because it sounds "old and lame".[20]
  • Alongside Isabeau, they are stated to use Protector Craft[21], although they say it's not the same because they're not gullible.
  • Bonnie once woke their sister up in the middle of the night to play a board game. [22]
  • Bonnie's wish was for their sister to be okay. [23]
  • Nille and Bonnie ran away from their parents at some point before the events of In Stars and Time. Bonnie thinks their parents were "meanies".[24] Nille was a teenager when this happened. [25]
