Description

Examine

At the beginning of the battle

Isabeau: Very nice of those hands to not attack us.
Isabeau: But none of our attacks are hurting that big one...
Mirabelle: All those hands around it... It is making it invulnerable?
Odile: We should try to defeat one of those hands and see what happens.
Isabeau: I'm on it! Just keep attacking, and I'll buff you guys up!

Upon defeating all hands

Bonnie: We defeated all those hands!!!
Odile: Let's attack that big one, then.

Appearance

Bourdon's main body (called "The big one" in-game) is an empty circle before which float two eyes seemingly crying black tears; the circle is dark grey and messy light grey lines have been scribbled along its surface.
The main body is surrounded on its sides by two scissor hands at the top, two paper hands in the middle, and two rock hands at the bottom.
As the fight progresses and the player eliminates these hands, their portraits vanish until only "the big one" is left.

Strategy

Since defeating all hands isn't required to defeat this boss, it is more time-efficient to focus on eliminating one type of hand entirely first, which makes the boss vulnerable to the type of craft the hands were weak to. The best hands to eliminate first are the Paper hands, as this will make "the big one" vulnerable to Scissors attacks, which Siffrin, Mirabelle, and Odile all have access to.

When all hands are defeated and it is at a low HP, "the big one" will use Time Freeze and Slow Down attacks frequently. Make sure to keep Mirabelle alive to unfreeze any characters caught by the former attack.

Trivia

Bourdon is French for "bumblebee". It is possible it was given such a name because of the French saying "avoir le bourdon" (lit. "to have the bumblebee"), meaning "to be sad, melancholic, to have dark thoughts."
